Steam Vs. Dry Cleaning?

We hear this question daily. First, there is no such thing as steam cleaning. The correct terminology is hot water extraction. Hot water (not steam) is used to clean and rinse the carpet. Second, there is only one type of dry cleaning and that is dry powder cleaning. The powder simply gets beat into your carpets or rugs with a vacuum's beater bar. The powder can only be removed by beating the back of your rugs. The powder will of course remain in your wall to wall carpet. We do not employ this cleaning method. Thus, we have learned that both cleaning methods employ water. So what is the difference in the two? The greatest difference is the rinsing aspect. No dry cleaning method is capable of rinsing and vacuuming away the cleaning solutions and dirt.

This is the main reason behind the massive influx of dry cleaners into the truck-mounted systems that we have utilized for decades. Hot water extraction rinses and thoroughly vacuums away cleaning solutions and soil that is deeply embedded in the carpet fibers.
